Mathematics Quiz Competition For Secondary Schools In Nnobi, 2024
The 2nd Edition of the Sir Pius Ufudo Foundation’s Nnobi Secondary Schools Mathematics Quiz Competition which took place on the 15th and 22nd of June, 2024 was a resounding success as the event not only tested the mathematical prowess of Nnobi Students, but also fostered a spirit of healthy competition and love for learning.
The first day of the competition was a spectacle of focused determination and friendly rivalry as ten secondary schools converged at the Sir Pius Ufudo Foundation Complex, St Theresa Catholic Church, Nnobi, Anambra State to test their numerical mettle. The contestants were posed with questions ranging from basic arithmetic operations, algebra, and geometry and with the progression of each round, came intensity. Some teams dominated with their swift calculations and others with their strategic team spirit and collaborative problem solving skills.At the end of the day, four schools emerged victorious securing their spot in the grand finale, leaving everyone eager to see which school would emerge champion and take the trophy home.
On the 22nd of June 2024, Students, Teachers and the good people of Nnobi gathered to witness four finalists go head to head in what proved to be a battle of the smartest minds. The contestants faced challenging questions designed to test their knowledge of and competence in mathematics. At the end, Seat of Wisdom Comprehensive School, Nnobi emerged victorious while Madonna International Academy and Trinity Model School came second and third.
The competition took an unexpected turn as the top three students from the winning school faced off in a final round to determine the ultimate Nnobi Secondary Schools Math Champion and the student who would win the Fred Udeaja Prize for best mathematician in Nnobi. Master Okoye Bernard emerged champion of this competition and won the coveted prize of N50,000 and five years university scholarship worth N1.5m.
Prizes, trophies, and certificates were awarded not just to the champions, but to all participants, acknowledging their hard work and encouraging the young students.
The Chairman of the Sir Pius Ufudo Foundation, Mr. Obinna Ufudo, commended all the schools and students for their commitment, encouraging them to keep pursuing knowledge with passion and perseverance.
The event was attended by dignitaries such as Mr Valentine Ozigbo (founder VCO Foundation), Barr. Ebuka Igwe (Member of House of Assembly representing Idemili-South) alongside many others.
